AboutMy name is Sara Anderson and I am the Inclusion Facilitator at Hawthorn Middle School South and Hawthorn Elementary School South. I received my bachelors degree from the University of Iowa and my masters degree from National-Louis University.
I started my career in education in the Chicago Public Schools as a Special Education Teacher. I had my own classroom, taught resource, and co-taught while working in Chicago. After that, my family moved to Des Moines, Iowa in and I worked with the Des Moines Public Schools as a Special Education Consultant. I worked at 3 elementary schools on a "Child Study Team" with a school psychologist and a school social worker. We worked with the special education staff, general education staff, and school administrators to help with students who were struggling with behavior or academics in the school setting. Now I am in my fourth year at Hawthorn as an Inclusion Facilitator. My role is to work with teachers and students to make learning more accessible for all types of learners in the classroom. |
Who am I |
I grew up in the area and finally returned after many years away for school and work. My husband and I welcomed a baby boy into our family in November 2014 and twin boys May 2017. We are wild about our little guys and we love watching them grow. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, going out to eat and traveling.
